I bought this CD because this is the type of music I grew up with and I had heard Flaco Jimenez with The Texas Tornados and The Mavericks. Mr. Jimenez makes playing the accordian as cool as jazz. The vocals have the down-to-earth tones that I imagine was heard around the 'valle' during the my parents' era.
The songs on this CD are 1. Gritenme piedras del campo9. Cuando mas tranquila5. La paloma (instrumental)--GREAT.12. La tumba sera el final3. El guero polkas (instrumental)4. I ordered this CD because I wanted "Los Barandales del Puente," but it's not on this CD. Por una mujer casada11.
Spanish Eyes (instrumental)15. Un viejo amor10. Las gaviotas16. Negra traicion7. Ay te dejo en San Antonio2. No seas tonta mujer13.
Poquita fe (instrumental)6. Juarez (instrumental)8. The Free Mexican Airforce (sung by Pete Rowan--FANTASTIC)14. Un mojado sin licencia
Thanks to Arhoolie records for doing such a good job in this CD. the music sound, the songs are some of his best. This CD is one of the best I have heard of Flaco Jimenez albums since it has some of his best Tex-Mex recordings, he has done through out the years. I certainly enjoy this CD and all the pictures that come with it. And I really enjoyed the pamphlet it has inside the album, since it has some of his personal story and several pictures in there most people have not seen. It is certainly a CD, that everyone that's a fan of his, should have in their collection. Lots of success to all of you. A great fan and friend.
